April Louise Sazama, age 73, of Hatley, entered into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, surrounded by her family at her home.
April was born on July 15, 1952, to the late Richard and Mary (Hull) Nuber. She married Keith A. Sazama on July 26, 1975, in South Milwaukee.
A nurturing individual with a servant's heart, April lived her life full of doing things for others and teaching her children to do the same. As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), she spent 38 years caring for patients in the intensive care unit and also specializing in clinical care. She most recently cared for residents at Rennes Health & Rehab in Weston.
Leading by example, April was a wife, mom, and grandma who put her family first; homeschooling some of her children and grandchildren, and educating them on the importance of volunteering. A notable experience for her children would be spending Christmas Eve volunteering to visit and sing for shut-ins. Further, April spent many years in civic work, serving her community as a Census taker and at the polls in Ringle for many elections. She often contributed annually to Operation Christmas Child to support the work of Samaritan's Purse.
April was an avid reader and among her many interests were sewing, gardening, canning, camping, her chickens, and doing anything to be frugal. She loved crafts, and it gave her joy to preserve family memories and create a legacy that lives on through scrapbooks and heritage albums. She was also an active member at Highland Community Church in Weston for over 25 years, planning events and participating in small groups at the church. She loved her bible studies with Keith and the many activities she helped organize or participated in.
She is survived by her husband, Keith; children, Jeremy (Laurie) Sazama, Jackie (Ted) Hahn, Brian (Nicole) Sazama, and Renee (Jason) Bostwick; as well as nine grandchildren, with one on the way. She is further survived by her siblings. She is preceded in death by her parents.
April's Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Highland Community Church Weston Campus, 6615 County Rd. J, Weston. Pastor Dan MacDonald will officiate. A reception with cake, donuts, ice cream, and fellowship will follow the service. As April loved sunflowers, guests are welcome to wear sunflowers or sunflower colors in her honor.
Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
