Carolyn “Cary” Ann Peters

June 19, 1942 — May 13, 2025

Mosinee

Carolyn “Cary” Ann (Bittner) Peters of Mosinee passed away peacefully at the age of 82, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, WI.

She was the third child of 14 children born to Anton and Genevieve (Goldas) Bittner, born on June 19, 1942, in Wausau, WI. She married William Claus Peters on January 25, 1964.

Cary was described by many as a sweet, kind and caring person. She was a master at solving crossword puzzles. She more often than not, got the questions right on JEOPARDY! and the puzzles correct on Wheel of Fortune. She loved to finish jigsaw puzzles, playing cribbage and Sheepshead and could often be found working on sewing projects in her spare time. She loved music, especially the oldies, with her favorite being Elvis Presley. She also kept track of all of her family's birthdays by handwriting them on a calendar for many years.

She spoke fondly of family trips up north to Alva Lake in Harshaw, WI, Jasper, MN, the Badlands of South Dakota, visiting family in California, as well as a road trip to Atlanta, and a special trip with her husband William to Branson with Junior and Kristy.

She was very fond of her grandchildren, often sponsoring their activities by buying raffle tickets and pizzas to help fund their causes. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and always volunteered for the Circle of Joy to help her community.

Cary meant a lot to a lot of people and will be missed, yet remembered for her passion for her family and friends.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Melissa (John) Straw; sons, Joseph (Diane) Peters, Patrick Peters and Matthew Peters; grandchildren, Aaron Straw, Brennan Straw, Jake Peters, Tegan Peters, Jordan Perri, Gisella Peters, Whittaker Peters, Melayah Peters, Everett Peters and Cordelia Carolyn “C.C.” Peters; siblings, David (Carol) Bittner, Henry Bittner, Anna Mae (Steve) Zeinemann, Sally (Terry) Miller, James (Mary) Bittner, Theresa (Dave) Conrad, Victor Bittner, Genevieve (Jerry) Race, and Leonard (Kathy) Bittner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; brothers, Martin Bittner, Anton Bittner, Jr., John Bittner; sister, Mary Ellen Bureta; and granddaughter, Sarah.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all who helped care for Cary in the last years of her life; including neighbors, Jill and Lee, staff at Inner Peace Home Care Services, and the Marshfield Clinic.
