Charles Eugene Anthoney, 58, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

He was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to the late John and Victoria (Murphy) Anthoney.

Charles and Marlene (Trapp) Anthoney were united in marriage on September 28, 1995, at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Merrill, Wisconsin. They went on to share 19 years of marriage before later divorcing. During their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Joann Anthoney and Jessica Anthoney, whom Charles loved dearly.

He treasured spending time with his daughters. Together, they enjoyed fishing, camping, and going on his favorite bike rides. Charles also loved listening to his music loud, a simple joy that reflected his personality and brought him happiness. The memories they made together will forever be cherished.

Survivors include his former wife, Marlene (Trapp) Anthoney of Wausau; his son, Brian Shepler of Wausau; his three daughters, Laticia (Brandon) Erickson of Tomahawk, Joann Anthoney (Dorian Stadler) of Wausau, and Jessica Anthoney (Bradley Childers) of Wausau. He is also survived by his sister, Angela (Gary) Shellenberger of Merrill; his brother, Steve (Renee) Anthoney of Merrill; his stepfather, John Luse (Diane) of Merrill; five grandsons; seven granddaughters; as well as other family members and friends who loved him and will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Anthoney; his brother, John Anthoney; and his sister, Paula Jacobson (Anthoney).

His unexpected passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

A celebration of Charles's life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced once arrangements have been made.

Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
