Christopher Cortese

Christopher Cortese passed away on April 11, 2026, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 20, 1981, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Michael and Sandra Cortese. Christopher dedicated his life to those he loved most, always placing family as his highest priority. His radiant spirit and analytical mind left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Christopher was a man of many passions who delighted in shared moments and intellectual challenges. He was a sought-after trivia teammate, an avid board game player, and a dedicated comic book collector. He was a passionate basketball fan, especially college games. He also found great joy in music and movies. He was a self-proclaimed "foodie"; however, he cherished his mother's cooking/baking over any meal out.

Family was everything to Christopher. The center of his world was his niece, Sophie. He is lovingly remembered by his parents, Michael & Sandra Cortese; his sisters, Jamie and Sara Cortese; and his cherished niece, Sophie. Christopher’s legacy also lives through his aunts; Lisa (Charlie) Okroi, Maria Cortese, Teresa (Dale) Patterson, Bonnie Kalchev, and his uncle Ron (Janet) Cortese. He is also survived by many cousins, other family, and many friends.

Christopher is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; Orlando & Elizabeth Cortese and Gene & Jane Abrahamsen.

A celebration of Christopher’s life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, WI 54476. We are holding a gathering to honor the man whose kindness, witty humor, and unwavering love touched us all. This will be an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the beautiful moments he created, which will never fade from our hearts.

Christopher's life, rich with love, laughter, and loyalty, remains an enduring testament to the power of family and friendship.
