Daniel Jakubowski

August 9, 1951 — July 11, 2026

Weston

Daniel Jakubowski, age 74, of Weston, Wisconsin, was called home to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 9, 1951, in Wausau, Wisconsin, Dan was the son of John and Joyce (Eggebrecht) Jakubowski. He married the love of his life, Ruth Bahlow, on July 23, 1983, and the couple enjoyed nearly 43 years together.

Dan built a career that reflected both skill and dedication, working for Wausau Homes in the construction and electrical fields. In his professional life, he was recognized for his work ethic and commitment to excellence. His hands helped shape not just buildings, but the lives and memories of countless families who came to call those structures home.

Away from work, Dan truly thrived in the pursuits that brought him joy and peace. An avid sportsman, he could often be found fishing along quiet banks or hunting in the early hours, taking in the natural beauty of Wisconsin’s woods and waters. He delighted in tending his garden, nurturing life from the earth with the same care he showed to those around him. Woodworking was another of Dan’s passions, and he approached each project with creativity, patience, and pride, transforming simple materials into works of usefulness and art.

Dan’s love for his favorite sports teams was well known, and he rarely missed the chance to cheer on the Brewers and Packers, following their seasons with unwavering enthusiasm. His wit was quick and ever-present; friends and family recall a man who could light up a room with a clever turn of phrase or a well-timed joke. Above all, Dan cherished the time spent with his loved ones, never missing an opportunity to share his warmth, humor, and, as he often joked, his unique ability at “driving his wife crazy.” All who knew Daniel will remember him as witty, kind-hearted, and steadfast. His presence enriched the lives of those around him, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, devotion, and honest work.

Dan is survived by his wife, Ruth; and son, Ryan Jakubowski. He is also survived by his sisters, Judie (Dave) Rheinschmidt, Annie Ohrmundt, and Cindy Hoenish; his brother, Jon (Renee) Jakubowski; brothers-in-law, John (Susan) Bahlow and Charles Bahlow; nephew, Christopher (Cara) Bahlow; and niece, Tina Bahlow.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Tekla (Bermbenck) Jakubowski; maternal grandparents, Fredick and Emily (Natschke) Eggebrecht; his parents, John and Joyce (Eggebrecht) Jakubowski; parents-in-law, Elmer and Erna (Kurth) Bahlow; sister-in-law, Cathy Bahlow; and nephew, Zachery Bahlow.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Our Savior's Ev. Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth Street, Wausau. Pastor Nathan Wranovsky will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Dan will be laid to rest at a later date.
