Donald Marcott

Donald Henry Marcott, known to many as Don, age 87, of Weston, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center - Weston surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Don was born on December 20, 1938, in the Town of Holway, the son of Wilfred and Dorothy (Pudlas) Marcott. His life was marked by hard work, love for family, laughter, and a deep connection to his community and the land. Don was raised in Wisconsin, and the values he learned growing up stayed with him throughout his life. His chosen profession as a dairy farmer reflected his enduring bond with the earth and the importance he placed on perseverance, diligence, and tradition. Daily life on the farm taught Donald both humility and pride; his steadfast care for his land and animals was matched only by the care he showed for those around him. Don also worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. 

Outside of his career, Don lived life vibrantly and with great joy. He was a man who treasured the outdoors, finding peace and excitement while hunting, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Whether embarking on travels or simply spending time outside, Don found pleasure in small moments and new experiences. His enjoyment of woodworking was evident in the finely crafted pieces he created many of which became cherished keepsakes for his family.

He highly valued community and connection, always eager to talk and meet new people. Friends and acquaintances remember his funny, outgoing, and kind spirit; he was fond of sharing a good laugh, and many recall him as the unofficial “king of the Midwest goodbye,” ensuring that every parting was filled with warmth and a story or two. His love for conversation extended to watching documentaries about war and history, often sharing these interests with friends and family.

Family was central in Donald’s life. He spent a great deal of time with his grandchildren, cherishing those moments of laughter, learning, and togetherness. He had a profound faith in Jesus and that love of Christ grew and deepened over the years of his life. Don was active in his church, serving faithfully as an elder at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford and on the serve team at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where he provided guidance and support to all who sought it. Don’s legacy is defined by his kindness, humor, generosity, and unwavering devotion to both family and community. Though he will be missed dearly, the impact he had on those around him will be remembered for years to come.

Don is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his children; Michele (Glenn) Grezenski and Buck (Polly) Marcott, grandchildren; Rachel (Adam Quednow) Blair, Leah (Matt) Meidl, Luke (Jonell) Blair, Brandon (Erika) Marcott, Brent (Brianna) Marcott, and Brock (Whitney) Marcott; great-grandchildren; Elijah, Peter, Simon, Kamden, Kaiya, Walter, Eliza, Wesley, Fred, Ben, Gus, and Paisley. He is also survived by his sisters Susan (John Milbeck) Marcott and Burdella (Bill) Blumenstein.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Art, Bob, and Richard Marcott.

A funeral service for Don will be held on at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston. Pastor Lance Hoelscher will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
