Emblem

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Edward Gehrmann (Gehrmo), whose life was marked by strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Gerald was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on 26, July 1947, and grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and compassion that would define his life. He graduated from East High in Superior in 1965 and from UW Superior in 1969. In 1969, he enlisted in the Armed Forces, the Army division. He served two tours as an Infantry Sergeant in Vietnam from November 4, 1969, to June 16, 1971.

After his dedication to our country, Jerry taught Physical, Health, and Driver's Education in Port Washington, WI, for two years. He went on to build a meaningful career as a salesman. He started at Clover Belt Dairy in Hayward before dedicating forty-six years to Anheuser Busch, where he was known as “The Bud Man” and respected for his integrity, work ethic, and steady leadership. As a tribute to Jerry’s service in Vietnam, he was chosen for the honor flight to Washington, D.C., on May 13, 2023.

Above all, Gerald cherished his family and their time spent together. On October 3rd, 1981, he married the love of his life, Karen. They shared so much love together, including rides out west on their Harley to see the mountains and their sons, raising many litters of puppies, and at the end of the day, enjoying a cold beer. Karen also blessed Jerry with six more children. He loved them unconditionally as his own, with favorite memories of camping at the Eau Plaine, kiddie cocktails at Colonial Ballroom, and even raking the woods to keep the backyard tidy.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, always ready with wise advice. He was a steady hand, with witty, sarcastic humor and unbeatable resilience. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, such as fishing, hunting pheasants and deer, his lawn, and creating maple syrup at the Bear Track Inn. He will be remembered for his dedication to his country, quick wit, and impact on others.

Gerald’s cherished memories live on with his children, Mike (Melody) Crisman, Peggy (Dennis) Bindl, Dave (Beckie) Crisman, Kim (Butch) Suchomski, Daniel (Shellie) Crisman, Todd Gehrmann, Troy (Amy) Gehrmann; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Mary Roulston; as well as extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Karen; parents, Edward and Evelyn Gehrmann; son, Gregory Crisman; grandson, Chase Crisman; and nephew, David Gnoza; as well as six trusted furry friends, Bud, Mic, Sport, Sarge, Lily, and Parker, who are laid to rest at The Bear Track Inn.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson Street, Weston. Pastor Lance Hoelscher will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Honor Guard of Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post 10. Interment will be in Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marathon County Humane Society or the VFW.

The family wishes to thank Marshfield Hospital and Compassus Hospice for their compassion during his short battle with cancer.

Gerald’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be remembered always and missed beyond measure.
