Heather GM Eckardt

August 8, 1980 — September 28, 2025

Appleton, WI

Heather GM Eckardt, born on August 8, 1980, in Waupaca, Wisconsin, was an artistic soul who left this world unexpectedly at her home on September 28, 2025, at 45 years old. She was the definition of kindness and warmth, touching the lives of so many through her creativity and unwavering support for others

A graduate of Waupaca High School, she cherished the love for art that blossomed during her formative years and excelled in Forensics, showcasing her skills and love for expression. She met the love of her life, Andrew Eckardt, through mutual friends and they were married on October 10, 2009, in Weston, Wisconsin. Heather and Andy raised three boys, Gabriel, August, and Otis, in Mosinee until a recent move to the Fox Cities.

She was immensely proud of her boys, Gabriel, August, and Otis, who adored their mother's big heart. Heather was a kind and welcoming spirit, always making others feel at ease with her gentle demeanor and great sense of humor. Her kindness extended far beyond her family; she tirelessly prepared meals for Wausau's unhoused community and dedicated herself to brightening the lives of those around her. From donating Christmas gift bags for families in the NICU at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where her beloved twin boys were born, to supporting numerous individuals without ever expecting anything in return, Heather was the embodiment of compassion.

Heather's talent shone brightly in her community; face-painting at corn mazes and polka days, or bringing smiles at Texas Roadhouse, her artistic flair was always on display.

Family was everything to Heather. With her loving husband and companion, Andy, they created countless cherished memories with and for their boys. From swimming and snorkeling on a Cruise in Bermuda to experiencing the magic and Heather's love of musical theater while watching “The Lion King” on Broadway in New York City, Heather put her family first. A wonderful cook, she delighted in introducing her family to new cuisines and ethnic foods, with elote being a particular favorite among her boys.

Heather leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Andrew; her cherished sons, Gabriel, August, and Otis; mother, Linda (Eddie) Schmidt; brother, Kalvan Schmidt; and grandmother, Delores Grandeau. She is further survived by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mike and Schatzie Eckardt; brother-in-law, Chad (Jenn) Eckardt; sister-in-law, Amanda (Ryan) Sandner; and nephews Reid and Quinn Sandner.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather Henry Grandeau; great-grandparents, Michael and Lilian Rader; grandparents-in-law Francis and Iris Hurt & Lavern and Josephine Eckardt; and her doting favorite, Uncle Earl Schmidt.

Heather’s legacy of love and laughter, along with her uniquely artistic spirit, will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
