It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Jim Chesley entered into eternal life on March 19, 2026.

Born in 1947 to Leona and Dale Chesley, Jim graduated from Madison West and attended UW-Madison. In 1966, he met Nancy Podrez from Wausau and swept her off her feet. Married in 1967, they shared 60 years of love, laughter, and an unwavering bond.

In 1969, Jim joined the Air Force and was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Texas for four years. They enjoyed Texas so much that they remained there for another 38 years before moving back to Wausau in 2011. In 1973, they were blessed with twins, Todd and Wendy. Their joy grew over the years with their loving grandchildren, Alec, Haley, and Samara, and their great-granddaughter, Kathryn.

Jim prospered in management and sales, working and playing with equal passion. An active man, he spent every chance he could motorcycling, boating, and water skiing with his family. Following in his footsteps, Todd and Wendy were skiing and riding their Honda 50s by the age of five. Jim was a wonderful husband and father; for him, a perfect day was simply spending time with his family.

Together, Jim and Nancy traveled across Texas, California, Colorado, and the East Coast. Favorite trips included Japan, Hawaii, Nassau, San Juan, St. Thomas, and Washington D.C. Jim was a kind and patient man who enjoyed life to the fullest, a quality witnessed by everyone who knew him.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John.

Per his wishes, no formal services will be held.

He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Jim.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Linda Fosick and the caring staff at Cedar Creek Manor in Mosinee.

Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting the family with arrangements. You may sign the family guestbook at www.ascendweston.org.
