The family of James F. Taylor is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the age of 80, in his home in Schofield, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 1, 1944, in Wausau, the son of the late Harry Sr. and Esther Taylor. James was a graduate of Wausau High School. In 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1969 after serving his country. James married Peggy Hutchison on April 19, 1969, and in their 34 years of marriage together they raised a beautiful family and made many great memories together. In 2008, he married Wendy Mason, and they shared 16 wonderful years together until the time of his passing.
James worked in the banking industry for over 35 years. He was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks, attending several games with family and friends over the years. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. As he grew older, he loved reading, doing puzzles, and traveling, and especially enjoyed the time that he and Wendy were able to spend in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
James cherished every moment he spent with his family. He always made time for loved ones and held those times dear and close to his heart and was always looking forward to the next time he would see them. He never hesitated to make sacrifices to ensure that others felt loved and cared for. James always had a clever joke ready to bring a smile to your face, spoke kind and uplifting words during tough times, and a farewell from him was never complete without a warm hug. The enduring impact he had on those he loved will be long remembered.
James is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Taylor; son, Jason (Erica) Taylor and daughter, Jodi Bertelsman; and stepson, Mark (Anna) Hurning. James found great joy in being a grandfather to Marino (Nelly), Justin, Abigail (Caleb), Hanna, Emma, and Alex and great grandfather to Theodore. He is further survived by siblings Joan Madden, Marlene Goetsch, Harry (Brenda) Tayor Jr. and Jeanette (Rich) Hazelquist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Esther Taylor.
We ask for thoughts and prayers for the Taylor family during this time of grief and loss. James will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing he is deeply loved and cherished.
James’ family would like to thank Emma and Carrie from Aspirus Hospice Care for the special care they provided James in his final weeks.
Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Weston, is assisting James’ family. Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
