Janet Marie Stroik

November 28, 1936 — March 29, 2026

Wausau

Janet M. Stroik, 89, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on March 29, 2026, in Wausau. She was born on November 28, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Walter and Eleanor Lundgren.

Jan graduated from Calumet High School and Moser Business School in Chicago. She began her career at Spiegel and Illinois Bell Telephone before relocating to Wausau. There, she worked at Marmet Corp., where she met her husband, Vic Stroik, and later at Engineered Curtainwall. She went on to serve as a legal assistant at Trembath, Griffin, Stevens & Onan, and retired in 2003 as office manager at Grischke Law Office. In retirement, she continued working part-time at Kohl’s in Wausau and in Arizona, where she wintered with her longtime companion, Gene Habeck.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Jan raised her family while attending First United Methodist Church in Wausau and later became actively involved at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Weston. She volunteered with hospice for many years, always finding joy in helping others, whether by driving people to appointments, shopping, visiting, or simply being there when needed. She was the life of the party, who loved a good gathering and made sure every occasion included plenty of food and laughter. Nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her family.

In her retirement years, Jan and Gene enjoyed golfing, traveling, and socializing with friends. Most recently, Jan resided on the fourth floor at Mount View Care Center in Wausau, where the compassionate care team cared for her and treated her like family.

Jan is survived by her three children, Sandy (John) Feldmann, Bruce (Diane) Stroik, and Chuck (Wendi) Stroik; her grandchildren, Eric (Andrea) Feldmann, Corey Cielinski, Jacob (Alexis) Stroik, Ethan (Jordan Murphy) Stroik, Nicole Stroik, and Caleb Stroik; and her great-grandchildren, Micah, Grayson, Emma, and Penelope. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vic Stroik (1982); her parents; and many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

Jan leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and deep devotion to family that will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire Mount View team for their extraordinary kindness, as well as to her lifelong friend, Sandy Barden, who remained faithfully by her side through every challenge.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson Street, Weston, WI 54476. Pastor Lance Hoelscher will officiate.
