Jeanne R. Poppy, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

She was born on June 12, 1950, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Florian and Carol (Schroeder) Gust. On November 8, 1969, Jeanne married the love of her life, John Poppy, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt, Wisconsin. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing.

She and John shared a deep love of travel, exploring the country together and gladly bringing along anyone who could join, especially their treasured friends, Dennis and Carol Mancl. Annual family trips to Mexico were among her happiest traditions.  Her Mini-Golf Tournament trips with her sister, sister-in-laws and daughter & nieces, when they were available, were always filled fun and laughter.

Jeanne devoted her life to raising her two children and building a warm, loving home in Schofield and Knowetter areas. She cherished supporting Jennifer's many theater performances and concerts as well many Girl Scouts events and programs, always present, always proud. Equally, she never missed her Joshua's sporting events, whether local games or traveling tournaments, and quickly became the “go-to mom” for his friends. Family was at the center of everything Jeanne did; she was a natural bridge-builder, funny, sweet, and dignified.

Most important to Jeanne were her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. She often said that watching Nevin and Ava grow was one of her life’s greatest blessings. Jeanne and John embraced their role as grandparents with deep devotion. Nevin and Ava spent spring breaks and summertime by the Jeanne's side, learning baking, cooking, and everyday life skills in her kitchen. Some of her happiest moments were spent cheering from the sidelines of football fields, basketball courts, and at baseball and softball diamonds. Jeanne also shared her love of travel with them, gifting each grandchild cherished trips to Branson, as well as to Florida and Mexico.

Jeanne had a fulfilling career as an orthodontic technician and then patient coordinator in the Marshfield, Stevens Point, and Wausau areas.  She found immense joy in her work, particularly in assisting adolescents during their orthodontic journeys. Throughout her career, Jeanne forged many special friendships, including a cherished group of friends affectionately known as her "purple friends," with whom she enjoyed traveling and sharing memorable experiences. Her work friendships often blossomed into lifelong connections, a testament to her warm personality and genuine spirit.

Jeanne found joy in volunteering for the Girl Scouts for an impressive 48 years, earning the esteemed "Thanks Award" for her significant contributions and dedication to the organization. She also gave her time and talents as a founding member of Squared Circle, Ltd, an organization promoting amateur boxing in Wisconsin; a tribute to her father, who coached boxing for over 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, John Poppy of Weston; her children, Jennifer (Giovanni Barbari) Poppy of Minneapolis, and Joshua (Amanda) Poppy of Victoria, MN; her grandchildren, Nevin and Ava; and her four siblings: Charles (Mary) Gust of Stevens Point, Suzanne Bertz of Shawano, James (Barb) Gust of Marshfield, and Jon (RaeAnn) Gust of Marshfield. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sharon Fuerlinger, Sue Poppy, and her brother-in-law, Robert Lingford, all of Marshfield, along with several cherished nieces and nephews, including Kelly (Keith) Bauman of Shawano, Klay Bertz of Oregon, WI, Brian (Tracy) Gust of Marshfield, and Tricia (Steve) Ross of College Grove, TN. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Delores Klein, DuWayne Poppy, Joan Lingford, and David Poppy.
