On April 2, 1930, June L. Cizek was welcomed into her home and into the hearts of her parents, Erna (Frederick) Juhlke and Herbert Juhlke, and 96 years later, on June 27, 2026, her loving Savior, Jesus, welcomed her into her forever home.
She graduated from Park School - a one room schoolhouse, then Merrill High School, and later went on to receive her teaching degree from UW Eau Claire. On June 22, 1952, she married Rev. CJ "Cy" Cizek. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1996. She was baptized, confirmed and married in her home church, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Berlin. There she began playing the organ and singing in their choir. June taught elementary school, kindergarten and preschool, retiring in 1992 from Rib Mountain Lutheran Church.
Music always had a special place in her life. Along with music, she enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing card games with her friend group, and working in her flower garden. She was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League and also volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Shop for many years. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where her husband served as pastor, and she had been their organist and choir director.
Survivors include her two children, Coralee "Cori" (Stephen) Foster of Wausau, and Curt (Linda) Cizek of KY; three grandchildren, Casey Foster, Lauren Foster, and Andrew Cizek; and her sister, Dawn Evanson of Tomahawk; and her nieces, Dawn Anderson of Johnson Creek and Debbie Kurtz of Waukesha.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was further preceded in death by her infant brother, Victor and her sister, Darlene (Tootie) Slewitzke.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston. Pastor Lance Hoelscher will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Entombment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mount Olive Lutheran Church's Music Department.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Aspirus Hospice, especially nurse Haley and social worker, Carrie. They'd like to also acknowledge Inner Peace Home Health Services - Nicole, Zory and Peggy for their kindness and care, as well as June's longtime physician, Dr. Vicky Baker, and Young's Drug Store in Wausau.
