Kathleen "Kathy" A. Basil

Kathleen "Kathy" A. Basil, 71, of Wausau, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

She was born December 23, 1954, in Wausau, WI, the daughter of the late Norman and Lorraine (Leffel) Reuter. On December 27, 1975, she married Robert "Bob" Basil at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. He preceded her in death.

For over 30 years, Kathy worked for the Marathon County Public library in Wausau. She especially enjoyed working with the bookmobile and kids.

Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed spending time at the cottage up north on Sand Lake and caring for children in her home. 

Surviors include her brother, Wayne (Cyndi) Reuter, of Wausau; and her sister, Rose (Dean) Markofski, of Schofield; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Reuter.

No funeral services will be held.
