Kelly Melanson, age 59, of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, passed away in the arms of her husband on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at her residence after a two-year battle with cancer.
Born on July 11, 1966, in Wausau, Wisconsin, Kelly was the daughter of Sandra Halverson. Kelly’s journey was marked by warmth, laughter, and a deep devotion to those she cherished.
Throughout her years, Kelly embodied the very essence of kindness and generosity. The world knew her as loving, caring, and outgoing.
Family stood at the core of Kelly’s life. She shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Roy, whose steadfast companionship was evident to all who knew them. Together, Kelly and Roy found joy in the simplicity of working on their property, moments filled with nature, laughter, and the quiet satisfaction of shared achievements.
Work was not merely a job for Kelly but an extension of her caring spirit. As a dedicated bus operator for Metro Ride with the City of Wausau, she served her community with diligence and heart, touching the lives of countless riders over the years. Her professionalism and conversation were daily gifts to those who crossed her path.
Kelly found her true joy in the great outdoors. Whether she was fishing, hunting, or simply enjoying time in nature, she felt most alive with wind in her hair and soil beneath her boots. She and Roy’s shared love for their land was a source of happiness, adventure, and connection. Kelly’s fond membership in Bill’s Musky Club, where she was recognized as a lifetime member, stands testament to her enduring passion for angling and the friendships that grew from her love of nature.
Being a grandmother was among Kelly’s greatest joys. Her granddaughters, Amelia and Elizabeth Kroeplin, lit up her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating loving memories in which they will forever find comfort. Kelly’s adoration for her granddaughters was rivaled only by their admiration and affection for her.
Kelly is survived by her husband Roy; son, Kenneth (Kou Yang) Kroeplin; brother, Charles Kroeplin; and sister, Tamie (Joe) Williams. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Brenda (Cary) Pellowski; granddaughters, Amelia and Elizabeth Kroeplin; uncle, Roger Frost; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Halverson.
