Loren Worden, age 72, transitioned peacefully June 5th, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Loren was born to parents Lawrence (the listener) and Iris (Hackbarth) Worden (the talker) on October 17th, 1952. These traits served him well throughout his life and were often used negotiating between who did it and who got blamed for it with his siblings. Loren attended Zion Lutheran School in Wausau and graduated in 1970 from Wausau High School. He went on to get his degree in accounting from UWMC.
On January 28th, 1978, he married Roxane Goetsch in Wausau. Together they celebrated the birth of sons Ryan and Randy in the 1980's. A loving and proud father, Loren was a lifelong mentor for the boys teaching them to live by the golden rule. He coached little league as well as flag football. He loved to downhill ski while breaking for chalets, cold winter nights snowmobiling, watching and cheering Randy in snocross races, fishing with the 'fish whisperer' Keith McElhaney, pontooning the Fence Lake chain with the Schoepkes, card club with family and good friends, pheasant hunting with the Hilgemanns, as well as deer hunting with the Kropp family. Hiking on Rib Mountain, Nine Mile and Gaska Park were favorites. Loren was always quick to lend a hand whenever needed. He will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, his optimistic outlook, and love for family and friends. His laughter, wisdom and smile were gifts for everyone who knew him.
Loren was employed for 39 years at Weyerhaeuser/Domtar in various accounting and logistic positions. His coworkers meant the world to him, and he looked forward to the impromptu lunches where stories were told and good times were had.
Being young at heart, Loren really enjoyed playing with his grandson, Tucker. Whether watching him swim like a fish, playing baseball, soccer, flag football or wrestling with him, he had fun in everything they did together. The same for his nieces and nephews, who he loved to laugh with.
Survivors include his wife, Roxane; sons, Ryan, Livingston, MT., and Randy (Kali); grandson, Tucker Worden and two-week-old granddaughter Ila Worden, all of Ringle, WI.; brother, Larry (Linda) of Mosinee; sister, Liane of Wausau; along with nieces, Josie, Heather and Lindsey, nephew, Luke, and many cousins. He is survived by brothers-in-law, Gary (Sheri), Tom (Bev), and Jeff Goetsch, all of Wausau; sisters-in-law, Pam (Whitey) Steinagel of Weston, and Deb (Mark) Hadley of Wausau; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Iris Worden; and father and mother-in-law, Ardell and Ila Goetsch.
