Marcia L Spacher

September 24, 1946 — February 9, 2026

Weston

Marcia Spacher, age 79, of Weston, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, with her loving son and sister by her side.

Marcia was born on September 24, 1946, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of Aloise and Betty (Duggan) Sowinski. She married her best friend, Gregg Spacher, in 1967, and the couple shared 34 years of marriage marked by devotion and companionship until his passing in 2001.

Marcia was a devoted nurse, a role she took great pride in throughout her life. She worked as a nurse in Wisconsin, Kansas, Michigan, California, and Texas, caring for patients across many communities. Later in her career, she served in leadership and management roles in healthcare, including hospice care where she led and supported a team, and as the director of a nursing home in Texas. Caring for others was not just her profession but part of who she was.

She had a lifelong love of animals and found comfort in their companionship throughout her life, including her dogs, who remained by her side until her final days. Marcia was also a talented and creative crafter who enjoyed cross-stitching, crocheting, and knitting. Through her knitting, she made hats for cancer patients, a quiet and meaningful way she expressed care for others.

Marcia was active in her faith community at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weston, where she participated in the choir and the prayer shawl group. She appreciated life’s quieter pleasures and valued routine, simplicity, and dependability. She did not seek attention, but she had a steady presence and a thoughtfulness to those close to her came to rely on. She valued her relationships and stayed closely connected to family, friends, and her church community, including her dear friend Sally, with whom she shared a close friendship for more than 30 years, and Kathy, who was also a cherished part of her life. As a nurse, mother, and sister, she found meaning in caring for those closest to her.

Marcia is survived by her caring son, Dan (Timmy) Spacher; her sister, Sally Driscoll; and her brother, Paul (Ginny) Sowinski.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Aloise and Betty Sowinski; her husband, Gregg Spacher; and her sisters, Marlys and Linda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston, Wisconsin, with Fr. Patric celebrating. There will be no formal visitation; please feel free to arrive a few minutes early.
