Margie Ellen Koehler

January 10, 1940 — July 13, 2025

Wausau

Margie Ellen Koehler, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Wausau, Wisconsin, on July 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on January 10, 1940, the daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Kufahl) Muschinske, Margie enriched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and a love for learning.

A passionate librarian and teacher’s aide, Margie dedicated her career to nurturing the minds of young learners. Her love for books and knowledge inspired countless children, igniting a lifelong passion for reading in all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. She saw the world through the pages of countless stories and actively engaged with each book she read, sharing her insights and enthusiasm with students and fellow educators alike.

Margie was an avid gardener, finding joy in planting flowers that brightened her home and spirit. A simple stroll through her garden revealed her nurturing touch—a visual testament to her love of nature and all living things. Summers spent “going up north” created vibrant memories, filled with laughter and adventure. Family traditions were especially highlighted during the Christmas season when Margie lovingly baked her famous Christmas cookies, filling her home with delightful aromas and cherished memories.

An ardent fan of game shows such as The Price is Right and Jeopardy, Margie is remembered for her quick wit and competitive spirit, often delighting her family with her impressive knowledge and clever responses. She shared her life with her beloved cats, Pepper and Patches, who were constant companions and brought her immense joy.

Margie is survived by her loving husband of 65 years of marriage, Gerald Koehler; her devoted son, Keith Koehler; and her cherished daughter, Kari (Tobin) Koehler-Sobaski. Together, they will carry forward her legacy, holding dear the lessons she imparted and the love she shared so freely.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald (Nancy) Muschinske, and sister, Faye (Rodney) Latzig, who are now reunited with her in peace.

A funeral service for Margie will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church - Wausau Campus, located at 2822 N 6th St, Wausau, WI 54403, with Pastor Kevin Schnake presiding.
