With hearts full of sorrow but overflowing with gratitude for the beautiful life she lived, we announce the passing of Marjorie Kaufman. On the morning of Saturday, May 17, 2025, Marjorie grew her angel wings and peacefully departed this world, surrounded by her loving family in the warmth of her Wausau, Wisconsin home. At her side was her beloved husband and soulmate, Wayne Kaufman, as he had been every day of their 35 extraordinary years together.
Marjorie, affectionately known as Marge, was born on August 13, 1943, and her journey through life was one marked by grace, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. Originally from Parkston, South Dakota, and later of Island Lake, Wisconsin, Marjorie brought warmth and joy to every community she called home.
The love between Marjorie and Wayne was something truly rare — a bond that radiated to everyone around them. Their marriage was not only a partnership but a beautiful friendship full of laughter, adventure, and quiet moments that only they could truly understand. Together, they found happiness in the simple joys — scenic drives through the countryside, camping under the stars, sharing laughs with friends and family, and their favorite pastime: visiting the casino, where they often shared a lucky streak and a lot of joy.
Marjorie had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Her gentle spirit, thoughtful nature, and warm heart touched the lives of many. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, never shying away from hard work, always giving her best. When the time came for retirement, she and Wayne embraced their golden years with adventure, traveling hand-in-hand before finally settling in South Dakota to enjoy the fruits of their labor — together.
Marjorie’s absence will be deeply felt, but her love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Wayne Kaufman of Wausau; her children, Gregory Tangen and Connie Tangen of Bruce, Wisconsin; her cherished granddaughter, Deidre Zamecnik; her stepson, John Kaufman of Wausau, and her sisters Linda Nelson and Hazel Luethl. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to be touched by her kindness.
Wayne will miss her beyond measure — as will everyone who was blessed to know her. The light of her love will never fade, and her memory will be treasured always.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
Rest in peace, dearest Marjorie. Your love was a gift to this world, and your spirit will forever shine in those you’ve left behind.
A Celebration of Life will be held with family at a date to be announced.
A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses who helped Marge in Parkston, South Dakota and Wausau.
