Mary Krueger, age 77, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 8, 1949, in Woodruff, Wisconsin, the daughter of Victor and Mary (Paquette) Evenson. Mary married the love of her life Don Krueger on December 21, 1968, and the couple enjoyed 57 years together. Mary lived a life marked by love, devotion, and a zest for the simple joys that filled her days.
Mary was a cherished wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She shared her life with her husband, Donald Krueger, who stood by her side through all the seasons of her life. They built a family rooted in warmth and togetherness, including their daughter, Rebecca (James) LaMarche, and son, Steven (Sarah) Krueger. Mary's heart was especially attuned to the delight of spending time with her grandchildren: Austin LaMarche, Ashley LaMarche, and Own Krueger, all of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life.
Those who knew Mary remember her fondness for collecting giraffes, a unique hobby that reflected her whimsical spirit and appreciation for the distinctive beauty in life. She had a passion for family gatherings, particularly cherishing the moments spent 'up north,' where nature’s tranquility complemented her peaceful and nurturing presence.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Evenson, and her in-laws, Leslie and Jeanette Krueger. Their memories live on through the family she lovingly nurtured and the many lives she touched with her kindness.
To honor Mary's memory, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 3:00PM, at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, WI 54476. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until the time of service at 3:00PM.
Mary Krueger’s legacy is one of unwavering love, joyful companionship, and cherished family bonds. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for those fortunate to have known her.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Aspirus Hospice for their care, and a major thank you to nurse Cathy and hospice social worker Jen for all of their help and care to Mary and the entire family.
