Mike Slattery

Michael “Mike” Slattery, age 73, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away on September 23, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on April 1, 1953, in O’Neil, Nebraska, the son of Thomas and Dorthy (Porter) Slattery. He married the love of his life, Karen Lindwall on July 28, 1973. Mike was a project manager at Stainless Specialists for 30+ years with projects all across the US for Ore-Ida, Simplot, McCain Foods, Kraft and Yoplait. 

Mike will be remembered as a caring man who always wanted to make sure everyone else had what they needed or wanted before thinking of himself. That generous spirit shaped the way he moved through life and the way he cared for the people around him. He found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures: fishing, reading, collecting tools, and tinkering with projects. He also enjoyed 3D printing, watching Packer games and above all, spending time with his grandkids.

Those who knew Mike will remember a man whose kindness showed itself in practical ways, whether through the things he fixed, the time he gave, or the quiet attention he paid to others. He had a curious mind and a hands-on nature, and he brought warmth to everyday moments through his caring heart and thoughtful presence.

Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen Slattery; his sons, Kevin (Kimberly), Brent (Kelly), Ryan (Nicki), and Sean (Marie). Mike is also survived by his grandkids, Brian, Miles, Hope, Oakley, and Evelyn; his siblings, Marsha Stamp, Rena Koeneke, Jan Hackett, Robin Slattery, Krista Railsback, and Patrick Slattery; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Thomas, Angela, Steve, and Mark. 

A memorial service for Mike will be held on October 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church, 1806 Weston Ave. Schofield. Pastor Jim Gates will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. 

Mike’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. May he be remembered with gratitude for his caring nature, his generous heart, and the many quiet ways he made life better for others.
