Mildred Abt

Mildred V. (nee Thanig) Abt, more commonly known as Midge, age 85, of Ringle, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 4, 2026, under the care of her family.

She was born on November 14, 1940, in the town of Emmet. She was the daughter of the late Justin and Ruth (Nechuta) Thanig. She married the love of her life Ronald J Abt of Ringle on August 21, 1959, and the couple shared 66 wonderful years together. Midge drove school bus in the D.C. Everest Area School District for 52 years. She was also employed with the Marathon County Commission of Aging (MCCA) food service for many years.

Midge's firm foundation and first love was her Lord, rooted from her childhood. One of her greatest joys was baking for family and friends and loving on her grand and great-grandchildren. Her extraordinary loving spirit split over to everyone who knew her, as she took great joy in giving to everyone she met.

Midge is survived by her husband Ron, her children; Lisa (Bob) Glapinski and Ronald (Laura) Abt, her 7 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter Carlene (Steve) Hohn.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church, 6404 Old Costa Lane, Weston, WI, 54476. Pastor Ryan Cortright will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 11th at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in Forestville Cemetery.
