On January 22, 2025, Nancy Jo Eidnes lost her battle with cancer while under the care of her two children and the Aspirus Hospice staff. That day, the world lost an amazing lady. If you knew her, you knew how special she was.
She was born in Canton, OH on March 27, 1950, to the late Don and Betty Au. On September 20, 1975, she married the love of her life, the late Kenneth Eidnes Jr. and moved to Virginia Beach, VA, where Ken was stationed in the Navy. After trying for many years, in 1982 they welcomed their daughter, Stephanie, and then in 1986 they welcomed their son, Kris.
In May of 1997 they moved to Eagle River, WI where her love unfortunately lost his battle to the same terrible disease that took her. She was left to raise her two young children on her own and she did the most incredible job. She worked in the DC Everest School District and then retired from North Central Health Care. She enjoyed walking, exercise class, bowling and of course coffee with her friends every week. She never missed. She also loved spending weekends with her sister in law up in Eagle River. Trips to Ohio to see her brothers, and in the spring she loved to help out at her childrens greenhouses, especially deadheading petunias! Not really, but she was good at it.
And most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren, and she loved them fiercely. She never missed the chance to go to a dance recital, or a baseball game. After her diagnosis last February, her goal was to make it to her granddaughter's wedding, and that she did. She even danced! She fought so hard, and we are so incredibly proud of her and her positive attitude with all she went through this past year and we are so grateful that we got to care for her through all of this.
Our lives will never be the same without her, but we know she is having the most joyous reunion up in Heaven with all of those she has missed.
She leaves behind her daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Walters of Aniwa, WI; her son, Kris Eidnes of Weston, WI; her granddaughter, Shellby Sabatke (Breyden) of Wausau, WI; and her grandsons, Thomas and Jayken Walters of Aniwa, WI. She is further survived by her brothers, Bob (Mary) Au of Canton, OH, Dan (Pam) Au of Canton, OH; and sisters-in-law, Linda Moscherosch of Merrill, WI and Carol (Scott) Everson of Yuma, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Eidnes Jr.; her first baby; and her parents, Donald and Betty Au.
Nancy’s family would like to thank all of her amazing friends and family that have reached out with kind and encouraging words, sent her cards weekly, phone calls, handmade prayer shawls, meals and the list goes on. We have been so incredibly blessed by each and every one of you.
The family also wishes to thank all of the wonderful Hospice staff that helped to care for Nancy at home during her short time in hospice as well as all of the Oncology staff and Doctors that have been involved in her care this past year. You all have been so wonderful to our family. Thank you for not giving up on her.
Nancy’s wishes were to have her ashes spread in Eagle River, WI by her husband in a private family celebration.
Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Weston is assisting the Eidnes family. Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
