Nancy Newville

Nancy Lucille Newville, 70, of Weston, Wisconsin, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Nancy was born on January 4, 1956, in Wausau to the late Edwin and Lucille (Brzezinski) Stankowski. She attended grade school at St. Robert's in Halder and graduated from Mosinee High School.

On September 10, 1983, she married the love of her life, Danny Newville, at St. Anne's Church in Wausau, beginning a marriage built on hard work, family, and devotion.

Nancy believed in hard work, both at home and on the job. She spent 25 years at Zimpro before shifting to part-time work for 20 more years at United Way, a change that gave her more time for her family. She never missed a sporting event or school activity, always there cheering on her children. She took great pride in the kind, hardworking people Adam and Molly had become, and she celebrated their successes.

Nancy was truly in her element in the kitchen, typically found wearing an apron while creating amazing meals. She loved to cook and bake, always trying new recipes, and very few family meals were served without a homemade dessert. Each fall, she enjoyed canning fresh produce for her family to share year-round, and every Christmas participated in an annual family cookie baking marathon where hundreds of cookies and candies were made.

She was a talented cake decorator who created special birthday cakes for her children each year. She was especially proud of the large-tiered cake she made for her parents' 50th wedding anniversary. In the 1990s, she taught others her craft as a Wilton cake decorating instructor, enjoying every moment of sharing her skills. More recently, she joined Cookies for Care Givers, baking for nonprofit groups and community events. That experience gave new meaning to a craft she had loved for decades.

Nancy appreciated the outdoors and loved her walks and bike rides. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces over the years, and she took pride in her flower garden each summer. Nancy loved spending time with her sister, Margie, going to Amish auctions, greenhouses, craft shows and bakeries. What would begin as a simple trip would often turn into an all-day adventure, filled with unexpected stops along the way.

Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Nancy began each morning in prayer, faithfully reciting the rosary, a devotion that brought her peace and strength through every season of life.

Shortly after retiring, Nancy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a battle she fought courageously for six and a half years. During that time, she was blessed to welcome three beautiful grandchildren, Chloe, Mac, and Avery, who quickly became the pride and joy of her life, always ready with a smile to brighten her day.

She and Danny were snowbirds in Orange Beach, AL, for a couple of months each winter, and they took trips they never imagined they would take, traveling to Hawaii, the Rhine River, and the Mediterranean, along with countless road trips across the Midwest. They went to many Milwaukee Brewers games, often ending their trips with a visit to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion for a quiet moment of prayer and reflection.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Danny; her two children, Adam (Kaitlyn McGillis) Newville of Madison, Wisconsin, and Molly (Jon) Hohol of Berthoud, Colorado; and her three grandchildren, Mac, son of Adam and Kaitlyn, and Chloe and Avery, daughters of Molly and Jon. She is further survived by her brothers, Jim (Becky) Stankowski, Bob (Marilyn) Stankowski, Tom Stankowski, Paul (Marlo) Stankowski, Ken (Doreen) Stankowski, George (Marge) Stankowski, Anthony Stankowski, Steve Stankowski, Bernard (LeAnn) Stankowski, and Greg (Susan) Stankowski; and her sister, Margaret (Lee) Novitzke; along with many special nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Karen Stankowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 136058 Halder Dr. Mosinee, WI 54455. The Rev. Sabastian Kolodziejcz and the Rev. Don Bosco Amburose will concelebrate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Halder.
