It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Patrick Jon Dodge, 67.
Patrick was the second of five children born to Richard and Jean Dodge. While born in Amery, WI, he spent most of his childhood and early years in Wisconsin Rapids, where he formed many of the values and friendships that remained with him throughout his life.
He began his military service in the Wisconsin National Guard before entering active duty with the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was proud of his military service and a true advocate for the VA Healthcare System.
Though he spent his last six years in Washington State, Patrick never lost touch with his Wisconsin roots. A lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and stockholder, he wore his Packers pride proudly and followed the team with enthusiasm each season.
Pat was known for his generous spirit and was always willing to help anyone in need. He approached life with an unusual level of optimism, finding reasons for hope and humor even during difficult times. He was also an active student of martial arts, embracing the discipline, perseverance, and lifelong learning it encouraged.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, with whom he shared nearly 42 years of marriage; his son, Carl Dodge and wife Amanda and their two children Evan and Charlie; and his daughter, Melissa.
He is also survived by his siblings, Jody Halliday (John), Terri Grant (Jerry), Mary Kranick (Rich), and Dan Dodge (Liz); and by his nieces and nephews, Kati, Sam, Elizabeth, Jean, Sarah, Mary, Matthew, Allison, and Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jean Dodge.
Patrick will be remembered for his service to his country, his loyalty to friends and family, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his enduring optimism. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be planned for a later date.
Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences may be shared at www.ascendweston.org.
