Roger Luther Utech

Roger Luther Utech, 81, passed peacefully on September 1, 2026. Roger was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons Keith and Bryan; daughter-in-law Michelle; grandson Jackson; and granddaughters Piper and Neko.

Roger met his wife, Susan, as teenagers at Wausau East High School and spent more than six decades together. They grew up together, raised a family, and stood beside one another through all of life’s joys and challenges. In high school, Roger picked up the nickname “Louie.” No one can quite remember why, but it stuck and to many who knew him, he would always be Louie.

After high school, Roger worked as an auto mechanic and served in the National Guard during the Vietnam era. He later went to work at 3M, first on the bullgang and eventually as a millwright, where he remained until his retirement. His interests included car racing, the Green Bay Packers, woodworking, antiquing, gardening, and quilting.

Above all, Roger loved his family deeply. He was kind, patient, creative, and always willing to lend a hand, share what he knew, or simply be there when he was needed. Roger leaves behind so much of himself in the people he loved, the things he created, and the memories made over a lifetime. Those who knew Roger were fortunate to have had him in their lives.

He was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can say.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston, WI 54476. Pastor Phyllis Smoot will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at Ascend. A light reception will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
