Rose Marie Krohn-Koehler

September 23, 1933 — February 1, 2026

Wausau

Rose Marie Krohn-Koehler, 92, of Wausau, WI, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at Prairie Place Assisted Living and Memory Care in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Rose was born on September 23, 1933, in Wausau to Melvin and Myrtle (Plautz) Arnette. She was born again by water and the Word at her baptism at the Church of Saint Mary in Wausau on December 10, 1933, and later confirmed in the faith begun by her baptism on March 2, 1952, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wausau. She married Earlin Krohn in 1953 and Bob Koehler in 2001.

A woman of deep faith, Rose was actively involved in church life throughout her years. She sang in church choirs, taught Sunday School, and served on the Planned Giving committee at St. Peter Lutheran Church. It is there that she was a member for the last four decades. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society.

She had a diverse professional career, including work in medical offices, retail jewelry sales, for a title company, and as a realtor. Her care and thoroughness in her fifteen-year career as a real estate agent in the Wausau area and her serving as a member of the Wausau Board of Realtors brought her a fulfilled sense of accomplishment.

She loved gardening, the arts, cheering on the Packers and Brewers, decorating elaborately at Christmas, baking cookies, hosting holiday meals, and she regularly enjoyed the tasty Friday night fish fry.

Rose is survived by her children: Joey (Lisa) Krohn of Wimberley, TX; Jay (Jacqueline) Krohn of Minneapolis, MN; Jud (Barbara) Krohn of Pickett, WI; and her step-daughter Patricia “Trish” (Donald) Schuman of Morgantown, WV; and grandchildren and great grandchildren Joshua (Leah) Krohn and their daughter Harper and son James; Naomi (Gus) Martinez and their daughter Tess and son Ethan; Jared Krohn, Garrett Krohn and Austin Krohn; Thomas Krohn and Lance (Eleanor) Sylvan; Haley (Adam) Grimwood and Braeden Krohn; Theodore Schuman and Shawna Laity; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and fellow church members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earlin Krohn and Robert Koehler; sisters, Lenore Gertschen and RuthAnn Jahns; brother-in-law, Gerald Gertschen; stepson, Robert Allan Koehler; and grandson, Trevor Elias Krohn.

The family thanks the staff of Prairie Place Assisted Living, Compassus Hospice, and Ascend Funeral Home for their compassionate and attentive care.
