Terry Lee Meeker

Terry Lee Meeker, age 76, of Wausau, Wisconsin, formerly of Everett, Washington area, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, surrounded by his loving family.

Terry was born on March 3, 1950, in Bowling Green, Ohio, the son of Floyd and Lucy (Knauss) Meeker. He will be remembered as a fun, outgoing, loving, and caring man whose presence brought warmth and energy to the lives of those around him. Terry first met the love of his life, Barbara Hasko, in 1971, and years later (2003) Terry reached out to Barbie on Classmates.com and they were reunited. They were married on December 30, 2005.

Terry built a long and steady career, working as an Equipment Technician Service Supervisor for GTE and Verizon for more than 30 years. He was often sought out for his expertise in the Union and followed everything by the book! He loved hunting, fishing and all things nature, Mexican food, and he was a master at making salsa, fried chicken and Terry’s famous baked beans!

Terry carried a spirited enthusiasm for the things that made life exciting. Terry raced stock cars right out of high school and that love of speed and competition stayed with him through the years. He enjoyed horse racing and even had winning racehorses of his own! NASCAR was another favorite as well as his treasured 1957 Chevy Bel-Aire. Most recent days, you could see Terry enjoying Western TV Shows, Football and listening to Blues music.

Terry leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Barbara; his stepchildren, Jason (Annette) Krueger, John (Sheila) Krueger, all of Escanaba, MI, and Nichole Adams of Quinnesec, MI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Courage (Peyton) Krueger of San Antonio, TX, Isabella Adams of Quinnesec, MI, Aaron Anzalone, PFC Cade Krueger, Parker Krueger, Cecilia Jean Krueger, Karter Springstroth, and his great-granddaughter, Evergreen Twarogowski, all of Escanaba, MI; his siblings, Mary Pratt of Bowling Green, OH, John Meeker of Deshler, OH, Sue Meeker of Toledo, OH, Tim (Deanna) Meeker of Portage, OH, and Rose Loftis of Beaumont, TX; sisters-in-law, Anan Meeker of Blaine, KY, Vicky (Juliette Farrar) Hasko, Cynthia (Casey) Wittke-Jones, Lisa Stuart and brother-in-law Randy Hasko, all of Wausau, WI. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob and Tom Meeker; parents-in-law, Sgt. John Hasko, Georgene Hasko-Lang, and Charlie Lang; son, Troy Meeker; grandson, Evan Jay Krueger; step-siblings, Floyd Jr., Bill, Gene and Marriam Meeker; brothers-in-law, PFC Ronald Hasko, Gregory Wittke, and David Stuart. Terry is also preceded in death by his beloved companion Cassie Jo Lassie, one of his three Australian Blue Healers Terry enjoyed in his lifetime.

Just days before his death, Terry asked Jesus into his heart and is now experiencing perfection in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ!

A Celebration of Life for Terry will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ascend Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 2809 Jelinek Avenue, Weston. Words of Remembrance will be shared at 12:30 p.m. Terry will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park at a future date.
