William (Bill) L Dahlke passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at age 84, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was under the care of Compassus Hospice and Amethyst Health of Wausau.

He was born May 9, 1941, to William L and Fern A (Poppe) Dahlke. After high school graduation, Bill attended the UW Marathon County campus for 2 years and he served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. Bill met Margarete Graefe while working part time in his father’s shoe repair business. They were married August 1, 1964, and were blessed with 2 children, Connie (Jim) Brown and Curt Dahlke, 2 grandchildren Katelyn (Henry) and Bono (Emily), and 2 great-grandchildren Chloe and Lewis.

Bill was employed full time by Wausau Area Transit System (WATS) and was dedicated to providing compassionate customer care until his retirement. His career choice showcased his love for cars, and following retirement he kept busy delivering car parts, reminiscing on his favorite cars from the 1950’s. Bill was also passionate about music. His talent for singing led him to participate in the Wausau and Stevens Point Barbershop Choruses, a barbershop quartet, St Mark’s church choir, and most recently the Rib Mountain Lutheran church choir. When Bill wasn’t working or singing, he loved taking his family’s dogs for walks. There wasn’t a “bad” dog out there according to Bill; he seemed to form a connection with every furry friend he came to know.

Aside from his career and hobbies, Bill had a deep faith and felt service to God was his number one priority. His testament to God was clear; for Bill had the kindest heart and most generous spirit.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by many other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00AM at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, located at 227150 Harrier Ave., Rib Mountain, WI 54401, with Rev. Dwayne Lueck presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service. Bill will be laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial Park in the town of Texas with full military honors provided by VFW Post 388 Honor Guard.
