Woodrow Gerrow

November 9, 1945 — July 7, 2026

Kronenwetter

Woodrow James Gerrow, "Woody", age 80, of Kronenwetter, Wisconsin, completed his journey to Heaven on July 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Woody was born on November 9, 1945, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Emory & Gertrude (Stachura) Gerrow. After high school he went onto obtaining an associate degree from NTC. He married the love of his life, Janet Woehlert, on June 24, 1967, and the couple just celebrated 59 years together.

He carried his hard work ethic into a long and fulfilling career. Woody dedicated 36 and a half years to Weyerhauser, and after a remarkable tenure, began a second chapter with 20 plus years at J&D Tube Benders. Woody also worked as a bartender at both the Kelly Club and Angelo’s Pizza on Ross Avenue. He relished the camaraderie and stories that came with these roles, endearing himself to patrons and colleagues alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, it was Woody’s personal warmth and infectious zest for life that defined him. He was widely known for his big smile, big hugs, and laughter that lifted the spirits of those around him. His patience and generosity were evident to all who encountered him, always willing to lend a hand and offer encouragement. Family was his pride and joy; the unconditional love he gave was the heartbeat of many cherished memories. Woody found delight in life’s simple pleasures: he enjoyed the calm of sunrises, the morning songs of birds, and the hopeful promise each new day brought.

His love for sports was ever present. He played, coached, and watched countless games of softball, and relished time spent on the golf course or playing racquetball. Whether mentoring a teammate or cheering from the sidelines, his enthusiasm was contagious, and his encouragement was unwavering. Woody also enjoyed shooting pool and watching NASCAR.

For many years, Woody delighted family and friends by donning the red suit as Santa Claus, bringing joy and laughter to all ages. His love was truly unconditional, his outlook positive and upbeat. In every chapter of his life, he embraced each day with gusto and gratitude.

Those who knew Woody would agree he was an amazing human, loved by so many. His legacy lives in the stories shared, the values he instilled, and the countless ways he brightened the lives around him.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Kurt (Kelly) Gerrow, Kim (Dean) Waldvogel and Kelly (Sue Heil) Gerrow. Woody is also survived by his grandchildren, Aaron (Randi) Felch, Kori (John) Gerrow, Adam Gerrow, Kaitlin (Steve) Heil, Jaden (Kate) Heil; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Wiliam, Isabelle and Rory; his sisters, Diane (Pat) Sippl and Nancy (Ron) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
